Developed software for a real-time cRIO-based truck engine and truck body hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator for a manufacturer of truck transmissions. The system controls large electric motors to simulate torque profiles on a vehicle transmission in an end-of-line (EOL) functional tester. The system communicates with the transmission under test and a simulated vehicle operator via CAN-J1939 and direct I/O. Various driving / road / environmental profiles can be simulated to thoroughly test transmissions in a production environment. The system is now in use on two transmission production lines in Mexico.
