The customer's surge arrestor labs are used to perform both validation testing and, on occasion, verification testing. Depending on the type of testing as well as the specific product requirements the test operator must perform various sets of tests on UUTs.
The test cell software includes several functions that must be performed safely, including switching in and out high voltage transformers, charging capacitor banks to 200 kV, triggering plasma gaps to initiate high current impulses, and controlling motorized variacs in conjunction with step-up transformers. All of the controls and measurements are performed via PXI equipment.
Sentient Revolution provided the software consulting services needed to upgrade the labs with a minimum of downtime within the customer's budget.
